Message for our Students

On March 16, 2020, Governor Pritizker issued an Executive Order restricting public gatherings, encouraging citizens to stay-at-home and practice social distancing in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic.   As part of that order, the Governor suspended certain requirements of the Open Meeting Act in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

Therefore, the Villa Grove Board of Education monthly meeting on April 20, 2020 at 6:00 PM will be conducted via electronic format and will not be open for in-person attendance by the public.  The meeting will be broadcast live on a streaming site provided later.  Community members who wish to submit public comments to the Board may do so by sending an email to BOE@vg302.org prior to the meeting.  All comments submitted will be read aloud during the public comment portion of the meeting.

In an effort to be completely transparent with our community, the Board of Education is informing our community that the meeting agenda will contain a discussion topic regarding the sports cooperative with Heritage High School.  The Board has discussed the topic in open session in February and March and will continue that discussion and possibly hold a vote as to the future of the coop after the 2020-2021 school year.

Allergy Guidelines Notice

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Here at Villa Grove Schools, we pride ourselves in educating and protecting each of our students to the best of our abilities.  Because of this we are implementing some new safeguards for our students with food allergies.

There will be no food allowed in classrooms in the high school or junior high. Students must eat in designated areas only or, if they bring peanut products of any kind, eat in the sections of the cafeteria that are assigned for peanuts.

In the elementary, students may bring in treats for special occasions (e.g., birthday or holiday parties), but they must be store-bought, labeled, and checked in at the office by office staff.  Please avoid peanut products when bringing in snacks. Each teacher will send home a letter if their class has a student with an allergy.  At lunch, students will sit in the assigned sections of the cafeteria for peanuts if they bring any kind of peanut product.

Thank you for caring about all our students and following our new guidelines to keep everyone safe.  Remember, every child is someone’s child and we educate them all.
