Hall Duty Week of  2/24: 1 Lecher; 2 Rittman; 3 Murawski; Gym/Hall Parr

VGHS Writers' Club is excited to announce an upcoming reading by an inter-
nationally recognized poet and novelist. During ASR on Wednesday,
3/11, John Guzlowski will join us in the study hall via Skype to read some 
of his work and ALL students are encouraged to attend. You must sign up in the HS 
office. John's parents were taken to work camps by the Nazis in WWII. After
the war, his family moved to Chicago. John writes in Polish and English and has 
published poetry and novels. During the Writers' Club meeting (during lunch), John will
answer student questions about being a writer. All students are invited
to attend the lunchtime session as well. See Mr. Kestner with questions.

Congratulations to Kyleigh Block who advanced in the 3-point shoot-
out.  She will compete again on Thursday at the ISU Redbird Arena in 
Bloomington.  Great job, Kyleigh!!!

The date for graduation has been set for Friday, May 22, 2020. 
Please mark your calendars!

Applications for Boys State are available in the HS office. See Mr. Sims
or Ms. McClard if you have questions.

Students who went to Biofest, please complete the survey in the email Mrs. Werts sent to you.

The Local American Legion is happy to announce their upcoming Youth Police Program, 
June 21-26, at the ISP Academy in Springfield. Information and application forms
are available in the HS office.

VG FFA Rules Out Hunger! For a $1 donation VGHS students can
wear a hat to school on February 28th. For every dollar donated,
FFA will make a matching donation to our local Snack Pack
Program. Together we can make a difference for our students.

The bus for math contest will leave at 7:20 AM on Saturday. Students
should bring their own pencils and calculators.

Seniors:  Please check your email for information from Mr. Sims about
applying for scholarships to be handed out at the Honors Banquet. Applica-
tions are due by March 6th. If you have questions, please stop in and
see Mr. Sims.

Announcing the annual Yearbook Strawberry Sale!! Strawberry order forms
are available in the office. You can sign your name to take one. All profit from the
sales goes toward your yearbook. If you've already purchased a yearbook, you'll
be reimbursed up to the amount of the book. There is a $50 prize for the person
who sells the most flats. Order forms and
payment due on 2/24.

Student Council will be sponsoring with Heritage Student Council a winter dance, "Starry Night", on February 22nd from 7-10 PM.  $5 admittance fee and if you plan to attend with an out of town guest, you must complete a Date Request form available in the office. All students must meet the "student in good standing" criteria to attend. THE MUSIC REQUEST SHEET IS ON THE COUNTER IN THE HS OFFICE. STOP IN AND MAKE YOUR REQUEST!!

FFA is selling high-quality detergent and other laundry/household products for their latest fundraiser. Laundry detergent is sold in 5-gallon bucket containers with pump for easy dispensing. Prices range from $35-$40. Orders with payment are due by February 28th and pickup will be on Monday April 5th between 7:30 AM and 6 PM from the Ag Shop door #16. Orders placed must be picked up as there will be no personal delivery. Make your check payable to VG FFA. See Ms. Parr or any FFA member with questions.
